The Benefits of 100% Cotton Percale Fitted Sheets

Breathability

Cotton percale sheets are celebrated for their excellent breathability. The tightly woven fabric allows air to circulate freely and dissipates heat, helping to regulate your body temperature as you sleep. This feature makes them an ideal choice for warm weather, offering a cool and refreshing feel on hot nights.

Comfort

The luxurious comfort of percale sheets lies in their smooth and crisp texture. The tightly woven fibres create a lightweight, airy surface that feels cool against the skin, delivering a relaxing and cosy sleep experience. The fabric’s weightlessness enhances comfort, promoting a sense of ease and relaxation as you drift off to sleep.

Durability

Percale sheets are designed to stand the test of time. Their unique criss-cross weave results in a dense, tight structure that resists wear and tear, even with frequent use. This weave also minimises pilling, ensuring the sheets remain smooth and intact after multiple washes, preserving their pristine appearance and texture.

Low Maintenance

While percale sheets are highly durable, they are also easy to care for. They can withstand regular washing without losing quality, making them a practical and hassle-free choice for your bedding. With proper care, they maintain their performance and appearance for years to come.

Sustainability Matters: Supporting the Environment with Local Manufacturing

Goyt Mill In Marple

One of the few bed linen manufacturers left in the UK

The production and export of textiles were once Britain’s most significant industries. This sector shaped the Victorian era and served as a cornerstone of the Industrial Revolution.

As we know the industry has been in free fall since then. The latter half of the last century saw the industry decline quickly. This caused a rapid economic decline in the North of England and It’s a shame really.

You only have to read the label on most cotton products these days and see they are made in other countries and imported to the UK. No surprise there, it’s cheaper! I have no issues with globalisation, it’s just the way things go. The UK probably gains from exporting high quality goods to the world.

We are one bed linen manufacturer who have managed to survive and still operating in the same Mill as we were 30 years ago.

Goyt Mill in Marple

Goyt Mill at Hawk Green

Situated at Hawk Green in Marple, Goyt Mill is a beautiful example of a cotton Mill from a bygone era. You can read more about the Mill by visiting the Marple Local History Society website.

As they say, quality products stand the test of time and last far longer than cheaply made products do. The machinery that Percale UK use are testimony to that statement. They look as solid as they did when they were first made. They are also beautiful to look at.

This Brother 600 4 thread overlocking sewing machine is working just as well as it did all those years back!

To still manufacture quality bed linen in the UK is a struggle. We hope to see the UK continue to appreciate homegrown craftsmanship,  designed by hand. The UK has always had a good reputation for quality and we want to see this continue. By supporting small UK based manufacturers you can help keep these industries alive.

We still manufacture excellent quality bed linen for a very competitive price and want to continue to do so for as long as we can.
